National Performance Framework for SEN
SEN finance benchmarking developed by the Regional Partnerships contributed to the development of the DfES National Performance Framework which is now a publicly accessible website. The site contain data sets relating to
>pupil outcomes
>inclusion
>finance
>service delivery
>school and pupil population
>social disadvantage
>SEN and early years
>SEN population
DfES has provided training for local authorities to familiarise them with
the site and its functionality.
Additional "training the trainers" courses have
been offered to local authorities. Dates of the London training courses
were 30
and 31 October 2007.
Benchmarking LAs' use of out of authority placements in independent and non-maintained schools
The SEN Regional Partnerships produce an annual comparative anaylsis of LAs' use of out of authority placements in independent and non-maintained schools based on returns submitted by authorities. In addition to the overview report, participating authorities receive an inter-active spreadsheet which enables them to compare their use of placements and costs with others'.

SEN Finance benchmarking
The Regional Partnerships led work on benchmarking local authority SEN expenditure and developed this work nationally over a 5 year period. The work has now ceased given the availability of information through the DfES National Performance Framework.
