Regional Commissioning

The London Regional Partnership has promoted a view of commissioning in the wider sense of development, procurement and purchasing of provision and services.

In its work, the Partnership has placed an emphasis on the development of high quality, local provision carefully matched to need, that enables children and young people to receive the support they require and at the same time to remain in their local communities.

The London Regional Partnership has advocated a person-centred approach to planning for individuals.  This includes the development of personalised packages of support to which a range of providers (statutory, independent and non-maintained sector and third sector) contribute.

The consensus within the Partnership is that commissioning strategies should be needs driven and procurement practice evidence-based.  The Partnership believes that cost benefits will be delivered as result of adopting this approach.
